Toronto – Anthem Media Group, the parent company of Fight Network, the world’s fastest growing 24/7 television channel dedicated to complete coverage of combat sports, has acquired a 100% ownership interest in U.S-based specialty television network My Combat Channel from former UFC fighter Fabiano Iha. My Combat Channel is currently broadcasting in the Texas area on Grande Communications on Channel 240.
The deal also includes a 50-50 joint-venture component to expand My Combat Channel internationally in new territories going forward. As part of the deal, Fight Network will acquire the North American rights to the My Combat Channel library, including the rights to all platforms.
“With Fight Network already launching in five additional countries this year, My Combat Channel was the perfect acquisition target as we maintain our focus on expanding internationally,” said Leonard Asper, CEO of Fight Network’s parent company Anthem Media Group. “In addition to providing opportunities to collaborate on programming and increase our program library, this deal marks the official entry of the Fight Network into the U.S. market, giving us expanded program purchasing capabilities and paving the way to expand our subscriber base.”
Anthony Cicione, General Manager of Anthem Media Group and Fight Network, added: “We welcome Fabiano Iha to our company, as having a person of his stature within the combat sports world instantly improves our brand, and will provide additional opportunities to access fighters and content from around the world.”
“I am very excited to join forces with Fight Network and Anthem Media,” said Fabiano Iha, founder of My Combat Channel. “I am very impressed with their expansion plans and am looking forward to combining My Combat Channel’s assets to create a truly dynamic international channel.”
